What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
A responsibility I owe to my work family to show up every day and do my job to the best of my ability.
What do you do at our company? Explain.
As the company’s representative on all matters concerning quality, my primary focus is to analyze processing procedures, initiate actions to correct inadequacies and place safeguards inside the process to assure our customers receive a quality product. Bristol Metals holds a number of internationally recognized quality system certifications, and I am responsible for the implementation, management and maintenance of those certifications through internal and external auditing. Having performed many job duties during my career and being well versed in the engineering codes governing our products, I frequently review project specifications to determine if they fit our company, calculate cost add-ons and develop or initiate action plans to be executed during the manufacturing process.
What makes you wake up and come to work every day?
My dog. He has a running feud with an imaginary squirrel he believes lives in my backyard. I rarely get to sleep past 6 am, so that works out nicely with my schedule.
All kidding aside, I go to work every day with the knowledge that any of the number of pipes we produce may well be in use near people I love. My goal is to make sure they stay safe by doing the right thing and doing it to the best of my ability each and every day.
What has been your favorite project (or aspect of your job) so far?
The people I work with or have worked with. Because employee turnover at Bristol Metals is very low, some of my closest and longest-lasting friendships have been developed here.
Apart from your work, what are some side projects or hobbies you have outside of the office?
Repurposing wood and other materials, wood working and kayaking.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’m not sure, but don’t believe everything you hear.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Did you take it?
When being audited, never answer a question unless directly asked. I certainly remember the times that I have failed to follow it.
